Buyback/Trade-In

General Questions About Buyback / Trade-In Service

SellUp is Singapore's trusted marketplace platform that connects electronics sellers with verified buyers and dealers. Unlike traditional trade-in services, SellUp allows you to compare multiple offers from different buyers instantly, ensuring you get the best price for your device.
The platform covers smartphones, tablets, laptops, gaming consoles, and other electronics. You simply enter your device details, compare offers from verified dealers, and choose between store visit or home pickup for instant payment.
SellUp operates as a marketplace rather than a direct buyer, which means you get competitive offers from multiple verified dealers instead of a single fixed price. Key differences include:
Instant price comparison from multiple buyers
Verified dealer network with physical store locations
Free home pickup service available across Singapore
On-the-spot cash payment with no waiting periods
No inspection surprises - quoted price matches final payment when device condition is as declared
Yes, SellUp prioritizes safety through a rigorous dealer verification process. All buyers on the platform are:
Licensed electronics dealers with physical store locations in Singapore
Background-checked businesses with established track records
Customer-reviewed partners with transparent rating systems
Financially verified to ensure payment capability
The platform also provides buyer ratings and reviews to help you make informed decisions.

Device Valuation and Pricing

SellUp's pricing system uses real-time data input from Singapore's licensed secondhand dealers. The dealers will input their offer regularly based on:
Current market demand for your specific model
Device age and depreciation rates
Condition factors including screen, battery, and functionality
Storage capacity and specifications
Market availability and seasonal trends
Please note: While we strive to ensure pricing accuracy, there may be rare occasions where a dealer's listed price is incorrect or subject to sudden change due to system errors or market fluctuations. In such cases, SellUp is not liable for any changes in price and reserves the right to cancel or adjust the quote even after the transaction is confirmed.
Several key factors determine your device's value:
Device condition: Screen damage, functionality issues, and physical wear significantly impact price
Age and model: Newer models retain higher value; depreciation averages 20-30% per year for smartphones
Storage capacity: Higher storage variants command premium prices
Original accessories: Inclusion of charger, earphones, and original packaging may increase the value
Battery health: For smartphones and laptops, battery condition that require replacement will lower the value of the device
Market demand: Popular models like iPhone Pro series maintain higher resale values
For used devices, having an existing warranty or extended warranty does not increase the buy-back value. This is because secondhand dealers typically provide their own in-house warranty to future buyers, and cannot transfer or claim third-party warranties.
The price shown during the online evaluation is an estimated quote based on your selected condition. The final offer will be confirmed after the dealer inspects your device in person to verify its actual condition.
Prices on SellUp are updated dynamically based on inputs from licensed secondhand dealers in Singapore. Dealers regularly adjust their offers in response to real-time market conditions. Factors influencing these price changes include:
New model releases: Prices often drop 10-20% when newer versions are launched
Seasonal demand: Festive seasons or back-to-school periods may see increased prices
Market supply: Limited availability of certain models can drive prices up
Device condition: Updated condition reports may lead to revised dealer offers
Because pricing is dealer-driven and market-sensitive, quotes can fluctuate at any time - even within the same day.

No. Devices reported as lost or stolen are not accepted by any of our buyback dealers. All devices listed for sale on SellUp are screened through the Secondhand Goods Dealers Transaction Records System (SHOTS) to check for reported cases.
To ensure full traceability, dealers are required to record the seller's personal details and the device's electronic serial number for every transaction. This helps protect both buyers and sellers, and supports investigations if a device is flagged under police inquiry.
The SellUp process is designed to be fast and hassle-free. You'll receive an instant quote, choose your preferred dealer and appointment, and complete the sale either in-store or via home pickup.
Most transactions are completed within the same day, from getting a quote to receiving payment.
To maintain pricing accuracy and account for market fluctuations, SellUp only accepts bookings up to 3 days in advance. We recommend scheduling closer to your preferred date for the most accurate quote.
Required documentation for selling on SellUp:
NRIC or Passport: Valid identification for seller verification
Proof of purchase (optional): Receipt, invoice, or warranty card if available
Device unlock confirmation: Ensure device is not linked to any accounts (Find My, Google Account, Samsung Account)
Note: Stolen or reported devices cannot be sold; SellUp performs IMEI checks for verification.

Payment and Security

SellUp ensures immediate payment upon successful transaction:
Payment method: Cash or PayNow on the spot for both store visits and home pickups
Payment timing: Immediately after device inspection and condition verification
Payment guarantee: Verified dealers are required to have sufficient cash for all confirmed appointments
No waiting periods: Unlike online platforms, no payment delays or processing times
Transparency is key in SellUp's process:

Your choice: Accept revised offer or withdraw from sale
No obligation: You can decline and keep your device without any charges

Home Pickup and Store Visit Options

SellUp's home pickup service offers maximum convenience by arranging island-wide collection across most residential and commercial locations in Singapore.
However, pickups are not available at the following types of locations:
Public access areas (e.g. MRT stations, bus interchanges, shopping malls)
Hospitals and medical facilities
Dormitories
Government-restricted zones (e.g. army camps, immigration facilities, airports, power stations)
Car parks or roadside meetups
Sentosa island and Jurong island
For safety and verification purposes, pickups must take place at a valid address with accessible entry (e.g. home, office). Dealers may decline pickup requests that do not meet these conditions.
Both options have advantages depending on your preferences:
Store Visit Benefits:
Faster process: Typically 15-30 minutes inspection time
Multiple device assessment: Easier to sell several devices simultaneously
Island-wide stores: Many store to choose from nearest to your home
Physical verification: See dealer's established business location
Home Pickup Benefits:
Ultimate convenience: No travel required
Flexible timing: Available evenings and weekends
Privacy: Sell personal devices in comfortable environment
No transport hassle: Especially useful for laptops and larger devices

Technical Support and Troubleshooting

If the device cannot power on, dealers may be unable to verify whether it is activation-locked or linked to an account (e.g. Apple ID). In such cases, the device may not be accepted to avoid potential misuse or ownership disputes.
Proper preparation ensures smooth transaction and maximum value:
1. Data backup: Save important photos, contacts, and files
2. Account logout: Sign out of all accounts (Apple ID, Google, Samsung, Microsoft)
3. Factory reset: Perform complete device wipe after backup
4. Physical cleaning: Clean device thoroughly, especially ports and screen
5. Gather accessories: Include original charger, cable, earphones if available
6. Remove cases/screen protectors: Let dealer assess actual device condition
Note: Once the screen protector is removed, it cannot be reapplied. Please remove only if you're comfortable.
SellUp respects your decision-making process:
Before meeting: Cancel appointment via the email send to you upon registration
During inspection: You can withdraw from sale at any point before payment
After agreement: Once payment is made and device handed over, sale is final
Cooling-off period: No cooling-off period applies as these are immediate cash transactions
